What’s the best lunch within 10 minutes of 52’s New York office.
If you’re in the mood for pizza, Lombardi’s on Spring St. has great pizza and history. It was opened as a grocery store in 1897 and in 1905 it was licensed as America’s first pizzeria. There are only a few coal-fired oven pizzerias left in NYC since they have been banned now – you know that whole thing about burning coal being bad for the environment and everything.

What’s the best part about living in NYC?
Absolutely anything can happen in NYC. From bumping into Al Pacino on an elevator to being able to stay out all night; it’s impossible to get bored.

What’s the worst part about living in NYC?
That absolutely anything can happen in NYC. And, getting cabs to go to Brooklyn is also a pain.

What thing about New York most reminds you of Portland?
The laid back mentality and access to nature of course. OK, really, the proximity to things you love. In Portland, it’s amazing snowboarding, non-bodega coffee and cozy music venues. In NYC, it’s access to museums, the culturally diverse food and my famiglia in upstate.

Name something that would only happen in New York?
The ASPCA has a mobile clinic that spays/neuters animals for free or at a reduced-cost in NYC neighborhoods that don’t have good access to vet care. One morning in Hell’s Kitchen, I’m in line at the clinic at 6am and met a guy who was there with his dog. Before 8am we were best friends and he was showing me naked pictures of his boyfriend. Quirky, neurotic and unafraid people make NYC one of the friendliest places to live.
